Chinese Opera ..
Ever since i got myself into photography, i always wanted to capture the people who performs at the Chinese Opera.. Unfortunately, you hardly catch it around kl here... well, except for those which performs during the Ghost Festival, which i find it rather creepy ~...~

Face painting is probably one of the most fascinating arts in connection with stage costumes as each painted face has a special meaning to knowledgeable theater-goers. The hero type characters are normally painted in relatively simple colors, whereas enemy, bandits, rebels and so on have more complicated designs on their faces.

Thomas Saint was issued the first patent for a complete machine for sewing in 1790. It is not known if Saint actually built a working prototype of his invention.
Scissors and fabrics on a sewing machine reminds me of my mom and my "gong gong". They both have the passion for sewing. Gong gong was a tailor, therefore he sews according to what people wants. Mom sews for pleasure. From little bags to bigger bags for shopping, lunch bags, water tumbler bags, waste bin bag (for cars), pillow cases, bermudas for young and old, and comfortable boxers as for her most recent project.
These photos was taken few weeks ago. I should have taken a picture of mom working on this machine. Anyways, that will be my next "project".

Mom is unwell these days. Evening walks and her bubbliness has been taken away for now from what she's suffering. The only thing that she finds joy of doing and keeps her busy is the sewing machine.
Unfortunately, the sewing machine is not working for her today. Mom said it could be because she is admitting to hospital and it started to miss her already... ( these words brought me to tears..)Get well soon mom.

On an ordinary afternoon, while i was arranging and editing my pictures, listening to Winamp online radio playing all time favorite jazz, I received a sms from the photography school I'd attended. Unexpectedly, the content of the message says I was one of the chosen winner for Canon's forum, therefore, I was asked to collect the prize from them...
All I could say was " OMG OMG!!!!!!" On the second thought, i told myself, "Did they made a mistake by sending this message to me?" So i called up just to double check.. It wasn't a false alarm... it was meant for me. =) I couldn't recall which picture I submitted or my lecturer did. Somehow I guess this is the only picture I recall posted in the Canon forum.

It was taken last year somewhere around September on a trip with few friends to Pulau Ketam. It is a small village where houses are all built on stilts above the mangrove swamps. The population(only 8000) is mostly chinese (Teochew, Hokkien and
Hainanese)
The island is popular for its crab (no doubt) and other seafood. The traffic consists largely of pedestrains, motocycles and bicycles. It is a clinic,a mosque,a fire department,a police station,a church,a bank and few number of temples and schools.
I stayed there for a night, usually people come to this island for a day trip. My purpose to visit there was simply capturing sceneries which you don't see them in town and it was their celebration for the Light Festival..
I find myself attracted to places like this. I've always wondered, what if I’m born to places like this? Are the people there contented with what they own? would they fit in to city life, should they chose to move there?

Penang July 2009

Just came back from penang on the 26th July. I went with my fellow photography students. Thus it was a perfect time for my to keep on track with my photography. I missed it so much... I am aiming for the Penang Snap! competition as well. =) If i did that will be my very first to join a competition.
These was taken from a "xing shi qiao". It means(direct translation) surname bridge. So there was a Chin Bridge,Lam Bridge, Chow Bridge.... and on those bridges stood houses which build mainly of wood. I find it amazing. =) so here they are, pictures of the surname bridge. =)
